Blue Valley Community Action (BVCA) was officially incorporated on January 19, 1966. BVCA is a private, non-profit organization. BVCA operates over 30 programs that interact and complement each other. Our programs are as diverse as the communities and families we serve. Our service area includes Butler, Fillmore, Gage, Jefferson, Polk, Saline, Seward, Thayer and York counties in Nebraska. Limited services are also provided in Pawnee, Nemaha, Johnson and Richardson Counties in Nebraska and in Smith County Kansas.

Our focus, as an organization, has been to develop community activities that eliminate the causes of poverty and to ameliorate the condition of poverty within our area. We have flexibility to try new approaches with our core funding resource and we mobilize local, state and national resources to provide the activities and services needed for motivating individuals and creating opportunities for self-sufficiency. Some services are traditional, but innovation is an important part of our organization. The organization has a history of establishing solutions to area needs.

Blue Valley Community Action, as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), has been pro-active in addressing housing needs within our nine country service area for the last 17 years. We have developed 191 affordable rental properties, administered 8 down payment assistance programs, and served approximately 26 homeowners with rehabilitation loans in the last five years. Since 1998, BVCA has assisted 193 first-time homebuyers with down payment assistance.
