Information about this Agency:
At Community Housing Network, Inc. (CHN), we are passionate advocates, devoted to providing homes for people in need and access to resources to create sustainable communities. We do this through proven strategies of homelessness prevention, housing assistance and development, community education and referral, advocacy, and additional services. We carry out our work in Southeast Michigan.
CHN offers two training options for prospective homeowners. We hold weekly in-person four-hour homebuyer education workshops. A list of our scheduled classes and how to register is available on our website, www.communityhousingnetwork.org. These classes are available to both individuals and households who have started the home buying process as well as those who are interested in learning more about how to become a homeowner.
An alternative to the classroom training is the eHome online training. This is a great option for prospective homebuyers who wish to take the training at their own pace from the convenience of your desk top or laptop computer, or for borrowers who are well down the line in the purchase process and have a homebuyer education requirement from their lender. Please note: if you do not have a pending purchase agreement, completion of the eHome training will in no way impact your eligibility to be pre-approved by a mortgage lender. There is a one-time fee of $99 to access the eHome training. Once the online course is completed, the participant must complete and submit the Required Documents and a Certified Housing Counselor will follow up to schedule a brief phone appointment to review the training, assist in developing a post purchase budget plan, and answer any questions about the program.
Completion of either training option fulfills certain requirements of the MSHDA (Michigan State Housing Development Authority) mortgage loan and downpayment assistance programs. Participants do not have to be MSHDA loan applicants to participate in the classroom or online training.
This course satisfies the MSHDA required Homebuyer Education curriculum. If you would like more information, or are interested in attending the classroom training, please contact Kimberly Diggan by phone at 248.824.7391 or by email at kdiggan@chninc.net. CHN is located at 5505 Corporate Drive, Ste. 300 Troy, MI 48098.
PLEASE NOTE: You will be required to contact Community Housing Network, Inc. before you will be able to access your completion certificate.
