North Dakota Foreclosure Education
The North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) provides individuals and families across North Dakota with access to eHome America's online Foreclosure Education program.
Facing foreclosure is a challenging situation and can be confusing.
In this course we walk through the foreclosure process and help you understand what you can expect based upon your personal situation. Depending upon the type of loan you have not all options discussed may be available to you.
Topics covered include:
- What Is Foreclosure?
- What Is The Foreclosure Process?
- Foreclosure Scams
- What Happens After Foreclosure
- What Are The Next Steps
During the course these items will be mentioned:
- Judicial Foreclosure
- Deficiency Judgement
- Redemption Period
- Mortgage Modification
- Short Sales
- Deed-in-Lieu of Foreclosure
North Dakota is a judicial foreclosure state and in North Dakota a deficiency judgement cannot be sought on a foreclosed residential mortgage loan. North Dakota also requires a redemption period on all mortgage loans which is different than what is stated in the course. Also, keep in mind that mortgage modifications are not an option on all mortgage loans and short sales and a deed-in-lieu will require certain conditions be met.
